Our Story
It all started back in 1927, when German chemist Dr. August Oetker first developed the idea of compressed glucose tablets. His goal was to provide a fast-acting source of energy that was portable and easy to take whenever you needed a boost.
The genius behind Dr. Oetker’s invention was understanding the unique properties of glucose, a simple sugar that is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream to provide instant energy. While other foods contain glucose, Dr. Oetker realized that compressing it into a small tablet delivered it quickly without requiring digestion.
After successfully developing and patenting his formula for compressed glucose tablets, Dr. Oetker launched the first Dextro Energy® products in Germany in 1930. The earliest tablets were simply compressed glucose with added flavoring, but Dr. Oetker continued innovating over the following decades.
In the 1950s, new fruit flavors like orange and lemon were introduced to make the tablets more palatable. Tablets with added vitamins and minerals soon followed to provide more complete nutrition. Over time, the Dextro Energy® product range expanded beyond tablets to include powder sachets, candies, lozenges and the first energy gum in the world.
While the delivery formats evolved, the core benefit of fast-acting glucose remained at the heart of every new Dextro Energy® product. This heritage of using science to unlock the potential of glucose continues to guide our product development today.

Our Manufacturing Process

Our tablets begin with pure glucose powder which is pressed into tablets using specialized high-compression machines. This ensures the firm texture and rapid dissolution rate of our tablets.
The tablets are then coated to improve palatability and swallowing. Natural flavors, colors, functional supplements like vitamins or minerals can also be added during coating.
Our gums, jellies and other products undergo a similar process tailored to each item. Automated processes ensure precision dosing of all ingredients.
Throughout production, samples from each batch undergo over 500 quality control checks including:
